Property in Latvia present a safe and perspective investment prospects for foreign entities including citizens of Russia and the European Union alike, in particular, during recent years. The security of the legal system provides guarantees for all the property owners. Most of the Baltic representative offices of European companies are located in Riga, there is also a strong banking system. 40% of Riga residents are Russian-speaking making the settlement of various issues much easier for citizens of Russia.

Amendments to the Law "On Migration" providing an opportunity for foreign citizens to obtain a residence permit in Latvia for 5 years have entered into force as of the 1st July 2010.
